British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was deported from the United States to the United Kingdom on Friday (28), one day after federal agents arrested him at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The expulsion was confirmed by a spokesperson for the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), who classified the British national as an irregular migrant who overstayed his legal authorization.
According to DHS records reported by Reuters and Folha de S.Paulo, Yiannopoulos entered the country legally through New York in May 2019 but remained in the United States after his authorized stay expired. On July 22, an immigration judge issued a final removal order after Yiannopoulos failed to attend a mandatory court hearing, which cleared the way for his detention by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
