Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), the eldest son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, is TV Globo's interview guest this Friday (28), part of the network's series of sit-down interviews with the presidential candidates in Brazil's 2026 election. According to g1, the interview starts at 9:30 p.m. (Brasília time), live, right after the Jornal Nacional newscast, from the Estúdios Globo in Rio de Janeiro. Journalists Renata Vasconcellos and César Tralli will conduct the interview.
The date coincides with the start of Brazil's free campaign airtime on radio and TV, which begins this Friday under the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) calendar. The interview also comes at a moment of a tight race in the polls. The latest PoderData/Aya survey showed Lula (PT) with 38% and Flávio Bolsonaro with 35% of first-round voting intentions, a statistical tie within the margin of error. State-level Quaest polls also recorded ties between the two in São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.
New format after the evening news
According to g1, this is the first time Globo's interviews with presidential candidates air after the Jornal Nacional instead of inside the newscast. Besides free-to-air TV, the broadcast can be followed on GloboNews and g1. After each interview, GloboNews airs Central das Eleições, with analysis of the candidates' statements. The network invited the six candidates best placed in the Quaest poll released on August 14, InfoMoney reported. The order of appearances was set by a draw, with party representatives present. Before Flávio Bolsonaro, the network interviewed Romeu Zema (Novo), Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), Renan Santos (Missão) and Lula (PT), who sat for his interview on Thursday (27).
During the interview period, Jornal Nacional is anchored by Ana Paula Araújo and Hélter Duarte from the network's studios in Rio de Janeiro's Jardim Botânico neighborhood.
Globo's series ends this Saturday (29) with Augusto Cury (Avante). The campaign then continues with daily free advertising on radio and TV until the eve of the first round, scheduled for October 4.
