Five of the 13 presidential candidates registered with Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) included targeted policies for autism and neurodiversity in their government platforms. The tally comes from a review published Thursday by the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.

A central proposal across the platforms is the creation of the National Neurodiversity Map. The project outlines a nationwide census tracking individuals with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, and high abilities. It also aims to collect data on school dropout rates, bullying, and access to specialized educational assistance across public schools.

In education and health, candidates propose expanding early diagnostic screening and providing therapy sessions closer to patients' homes. The platforms also advocate making Individualized Educational Plans mandatory in classrooms, expanding specialized school capacity, and using public funds to accredit private clinics for autism care.

One platform features the "Neuroinclusive Brazil Project." The plan calls on the education system to identify how atypical students learn best rather than focusing strictly on their learning limitations.

With their policy documents formally registered at the electoral court, the candidates will now defend these proposals during television debates and mandatory campaign broadcasts ahead of the first round of voting in October.
