A car bomb killed a Russian military officer and injured his wife on Thursday (27) in the Pushkinsky district outside Saint Petersburg, dealing another blow to Russian domestic security. The attack extends a series of surgical strikes targeting Russian commanders far behind active front lines.

According to local news outlet Fontanka, the officer served in Russia's air and air defense forces. State investigators confirmed the device detonated as the couple left their home, destroying the vehicle and sending the woman to the hospital in serious condition.
