The PL, the party of presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, posted the largest wealth growth of any Brazilian party in the 2026 elections. According to a survey by G1 based on data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the assets declared by the party's 1,636 candidates total R$ 4.9 billion, up 184% from the R$ 1.7 billion recorded in 2022. That is an increase of R$ 3.2 billion in four years, with the number of candidates nearly unchanged: there were 1,629 in the last election.
Across all parties and offices, declared wealth this year reaches R$ 31.1 billion (roughly US$ 6 billion), 30% above the R$ 23.9 billion of 2022. The asset list is a mandatory self-declaration filed with electoral authorities when a candidacy is registered. Candidates report real estate, vehicles, stocks and financial investments, among other items, and may declare the purchase price of an asset instead of its current market value. As of this article's publication, only G1 had released a full cross-analysis of the TSE data by party.
With the jump, the average wealth of PL candidates rose from R$ 1 million to R$ 3 million, and the party climbed from seventh to second in the average-wealth ranking. The wealth is concentrated, though. Just twelve candidates account for half of the party's declared assets, about R$ 2.5 billion, while 319 declared they own nothing at all.
The largest fortune in the party belongs to Luiz Osvaldo Pastore, a businessman and first alternate on the ticket of Senator Eduardo Gomes (PL-TO), who is running for reelection. Pastore declared R$ 677.7 million and is the third wealthiest candidate in the country. Next is Wilson Picler, an alternate on the Senate ticket of former prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol (Novo-PR) in Paraná, with R$ 478.7 million declared. Nearly half of that comes from his stake in the international university center Uninter, which he founded.
Biggest proportional rise belongs to the Democrata party
The largest proportional increase went to Democrata, formerly the Brazilian Woman's Party (PMB). Even with 396 fewer candidacies than in 2022, its total declared assets jumped from R$ 164 million to R$ 702 million, a 328% rise. Two candidates for state deputy in Minas Gerais, Antonio dos Reis Gonçalves Lerin and Sérgio Cassemiro, drove the result: together they declared R$ 533 million, 76% of the party's total.
In the average-wealth ranking, the leader is the PRTB, the party of influencer Pablo Marçal, which has only 12 candidates and R$ 663.6 million combined. At the other end, the PCB has the lowest average, with 23 candidates and R$ 4.1 million in total. The Workers' Party (PT) of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ranks 20th, with an average of R$ 714,000 for each of its 1,103 candidates.
In absolute terms, the five largest party totals are:
- PL: R$ 4.9 billion (1,636 candidates)
- MDB: R$ 3.3 billion (1,409 candidates)
- PSDB: R$ 2.6 billion (1,070 candidates)
- PSD: R$ 2.5 billion (1,129 candidates)
- Republicanos: R$ 2.5 billion (1,301 candidates)
The declarations remain available for public consultation on the TSE's website. The first round of the election takes place in October, when voters decide the presidency, the 27 state governments and seats in Congress.
