The newspaper O Globo published video on Sunday showing Justice Alexandre de Moraes of Brazil's Supreme Federal Tribunal (STF) and his wife, lawyer Viviane Barci de Moraes, stepping off a private jet at Santos Dumont airport in Rio de Janeiro. The footage was recorded on August 22, 2025. The aircraft, a Legacy 650 registered as PP-NLR, was listed in the name of a company of banker Daniel Vorcaro, the former owner of Banco Master, according to Metrópoles.
The recording clashes with the justice's own account. In April, in an official statement from his office, Moraes said he had "never traveled on any plane of Daniel Vorcaro, or in his company or that of Fabiano Zettel, whom he does not even know". Brasil 247 reports that the video contradicts the version presented to the STF. Metrópoles wrote that the footage and the Federal Police (PF) investigations contradict the minister's official account. Moraes has already dismissed as "fanciful dialogues" the messages the PF attributes to him in the exchanges with Vorcaro.
The aircraft contract
According to PF findings cited by Metrópoles, the flight took place three months after Viviane Barci's law firm signed a supplementary R$50 million contract with a Vorcaro company. A draft located by investigators provided R$40 million to be paid in usage quotas of a jet and a helicopter, plus R$10 million in flight expense reimbursements. The deal would have supplemented an initial contract of about R$130 million that the firm signed with Banco Master.
The firm denies the second deal exists. "Nothing was signed, and the original contract ended with the liquidation of the bank, which closed any link with the institution," the firm said in a statement quoted by Brasil 247. The defense maintains that Vorcaro's proposal was never accepted and that no irregularity occurred. Moraes and the firm say publicly that the R$50 million contract never existed or was signed, Metrópoles reports.
Messages extracted from Vorcaro's phone, now held by the STF under restricted access, support the use of the aircraft, according to the PF. In a chat dated July 16, 2025, the banker asked manager Marcos Matta whether the couple was using the planes; the reply confirmed that flights on jets and helicopters had been cleared and were underway, Metrópoles reports. In May 2025, Vorcaro had asked a former partner at Prime Aviation about the Legacy 650 and an EC 155 B1 helicopter, Brasil 247 reports. Discussing when the "assets" in the deal would be transferred, he wrote: "the assets are already theirs". In testimony, Vorcaro said he does not recall the recipient of the message the PF attributes to Moraes, according to Brasil 247.
Viviane Barci also confirmed using the service. In a July 2025 exchange reproduced by the PF, she said the couple was "enjoying it very much" the flight quotas and praised the flight team, Brasil 247 reports. One month before the Rio trip, Brazil's Central Bank had sent a formal alert to the Federal Prosecutor's Office flagging signs of fraudulent management in operations between BRB and Banco Master, Metrópoles reports.
What comes next
At the STF, the deliberations on the case left open the definition of the procedure and the decision on whether to open a formal inquiry targeting Moraes. The Novo party has already asked the court to remove the justice from the examination of his messages with Vorcaro, according to Metrópoles. The video lands in the middle of Brazil's presidential campaign, with the court's crisis turned into a campaign issue and candidates backing changes to the bench such as fixed terms for justices, O Globo reports.
